This is not about art
But it is my very own blog so I can choose the topics right?
BARBIE DECODED
I am in no way a movie lover, not sure why. I didn't even see the movie Barbie but I understood where they were going immediately. For those who didn't get it OR never took the time to stop and wonder what a BARBIE movie is intending and why is it getting so many accolades, here you go.
This movie provides another example of depicting the struggles of Barbie (all women) against societal expectations imposed by the patriarchy. The narrative follows a character like Barbie who, despite her seemingly perfect exterior, becomes aware of the limitations and lack of agency she faces as a result of societal norms. Others have chosen her limitations before her. But she looks lovely.
Themes like "What was I made for" by Billie Eilish could be used to underscore the internal struggle and existential questioning experienced by the protagonist. This introspective exploration may lead to a feminist awakening, challenging traditional gender roles and advocating for women's empowerment.
Now you know. I would not of made this commentary were it not for Mark's confusion about the Barbie movie, so I gave him the rundown. The main reason I am interested at all..... I LOVE THIS SONG!
